The Chess.com rows are derived rather than counted: Chess.com publishes no rating distribution, so its curve is the Lichess population mapped through the measured conversion between the two. Percentiles from it are rounded to the nearest 5 and stop at "top 5% or better". The Lichess and FIDE rows are counted from published data.

What ⁦1,500⁩ actually means

1,500 is the number people mean when they say "decent club player", and it is the most searched-for rating there is. Its real position depends entirely on which pool you are in: the same 1,500 is a different achievement on Chess.com, on Lichess and on FIDE’s list, and the distance between those three is larger than the distance from 1,500 to 1,700 within any one of them.

Band edges, not thresholds: the distributions are counted in bands, so each figure is where that band begins rather than a number you have to hit exactly.
