Privacy
The short version
There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no emails. We do not ask for your name, age or date of birth, and we do not build a profile of you.
Advertising and cookies
This site is funded by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies or read existing ones to serve and measure ads. You can review and change your choices in Google Ads Settings, and manage cookies in your browser.
What your browser keeps
Your recent lookups are stored in your own browser, so the list is there when you come back. It never leaves your device and never reaches us. Clearing it on the page clears it for good.
What the server counts
Every page this site serves is counted: which page, in which language, and — where the request says so — from which country. Next to that we keep an estimate of how many separate people that was, made without keeping a list of anybody. Your address is cut back to its first three parts, mixed with your browser's identifying string and a key that changes every day, and folded into a summary that cannot be asked a question about any individual. No cookie, nothing stored on your device, and nothing that ties today's visit to tomorrow's. If another site sent you here, we count its name — Google, Reddit, Chess.com — and never the page or the search that carried the link.
Third parties
The only third-party requests this site makes are the ad units. The typeface is served from our own server rather than a font network, and there are no third-party analytics, no tag managers and no social widgets — so there is nothing else watching you here.
